County Council acts on cleanup efforts

Marlboro County is starting to see the benefits of a solid waste fee approved by county council during the most recent budget process and included on this year’s tax bills.
The $40 solid waste fee was placed on the tax bills for all dwellings in the unincorporated areas of the county. This is expected to generate around $300,000 annually and is intended to fund efforts to clean up the county, including the hiring of a work crew supervisor, enhancing existing convenience centers, supporting community clean-up efforts, and educating the public.
