Kinney receives top award from Nat’l Newspaper Assn.

Bennettsville journalist Bill Kinney Jr. was awarded the prestigious  James O. Amos Award by the National Newspaper Association at its annual convention in Franklin, TN, Saturday, September 24.
James Amos owned the Shelby County Democrat in Ohio, which has passed from the family’s ownership and is now known as the Sidney Daily News.

Teen caught in Florence

Bond was to be set in Florence today on the teen who eluded law enforcement for a week, mostly in the woods around Marlboro County, before being captured in a Florence swamp last Saturday.
Nickolas Riley Carter, 19, of Florence faces multiple charges in both Florence and Marlboro counties related to burglaries, vehicle thefts and other crimes.

Manhunt continues in Marlboro County

Manhunt continues in Marlboro County

The Marlboro County Sheriff's Office is still seeking assistance from the public in apprehending Nicholas Carter, 19 years old, of Bristol Street in Florence. 
Carter is wanted by the MCSO, Florence Police Department and Florence County Sheriffs Office. He is wanted for a variety of burglary, larceny, weapons charges and failure to stop for a blue light from Florence County.

Losing games vacuums away all the confidence and positive energy that surrounded the team a month ago.  Unfortunately, the Bulldogs cannot look to the stands to get reinforcement.
