Future of Marlboro Park Hospital still not decided

On Tuesday, Community Health Systems, Inc. announced that it is selling its interests in Marlboro Park and Chesterfield General Hospitals within the next 60 days to M/C Healthcare, LLC.The Franklin, Tennessee-based Community Health Systems (CHS) has operated the two hospitals under leases with the property owner, Medical Properties Trust, for many years. Medical Properties Trust is a Birmingham, Alabama-based real estate investment trust (REIT).

This was the scene at the Highway 15-401 By-pass and Broad Street in Bennettsville last Friday, as crews demolished the old Breakers convenience store. This will make way for a Cook-Out Restaurant, city officials confirmed this week.

Board disagrees about meeting agendas

By far, the topic that took up the most time during a three-hour meeting of the Marlboro County Board of Education Monday was the matter of how agendas are set for the board meetings.
It started with a statement read by Artemus Woods concerning the addition of items from individual board members to the agendas. He said all board members should be allowed to voice their opinions about these matters prior to the meetings.
Currently, the agenda format includes "Individual Items from Board Members." Board policy states that board members may request items for the meeting agendas, and that the agendas are to be set by the chairman and superintendent.
