Two charged with armed robbery in Bennettsville
Downtown Bennettsville was the scene of a violent incident this week which led to the arrests of two men on multiple charges.
It happened around 9:08 a.m. Tuesday, August 29, at the corner of Main and Marlboro streets, outside the Local Finance office.
The victim, an employee, was heading to the office with two money bags when she said a man approached her with a gun and slammed her to the ground. He forcefully took the money bags and fled.

Marlboro County was not in the path of totality, but that doesn’t mean residents - and visitors too - didn’t enjoy the show during Monday’s much-anticipated solar eclipse.
According to NASA’s interactive maps, it appears Marlboro County experienced a partial eclipse in the range of 98 percent, with the peak at 2:44:37 p.m. Monday, August 21.

Nine months of preparation and anticipation for a  chance at redemption turned to disappointment for the Marlboro County High football team Friday night.
The Bulldogs could not contain Carvers Bay, falling in the regular season opener 46-28 at McAlpine Stadium.
"We missed a boatload of tackles.  We were out of position on other plays.  Carvers Bay hit on several deep passes, something we have been focused on preventing," said head coach Dean Boyd.

Bulldogs kick off the regular season Friday night
Ready or not, it is about time to kick off the 2017 season.  Marlboro County will do so Friday night at home against Carvers Bay High School from near Hemingway.
"It is hard to believe it is game week," said Marlboro County head coach Dean Boyd on Monday.  "We look forward to it all year, but this last few weeks have been a blur."
