Lady Dragons cruise to wins over Pee Dee, TSA
The Marlboro Academy softball team continued to roll, thrashing region rival Pee Dee Academy on Tuesday and non-region opponent Thomas Sumter Academy Wednesday.
The Lady Dragons remained unbeaten in region games by defeating Pee Dee 11-2.  They outhit their visitors 15-4 in the rout.
Samantha Bryant led the Dragon offense with three hits.  Jenna Ridge and Abigail Ridge each had two.  
Jenna Ridge had three RBIs in the contest.  Bryant and Laney McLaurin each batted in two runs.
Jenna Greene pitched all seven innings for the Dragons, striking out 7, while allowing just four hits.
Wednesday, Marlboro took advantage of five Thomas Sumter errors enroute to a 9-3 victory.  The Dragons were actually outhit by their guests 8-5.
Marlboro got five runs in the bottom of the first inning, with Lindsay Hunter, Emma Covington, McLaurin, Savannah Barber and Jenna Ridge all scoring in the rally.
The Dragons pushed the lead to 7-0 with two runs in the second.  After a run by the Lady Generals in the third, Marlboro pushed the lead back to seven with a run from Covington in the bottom of the third.
Things remained quiet until the Dragons got a run from Bryant in the fifth.  Thomas Sumter got two runs in the top of the sixth.
Barber had three hits to lead the Dragons.  Greene struck out 9 in five innings.
The team also defeated Freedom Christian Academy of Fayetteville last Friday, 8-3.
Both teams got ten hits in the contest but Freedom Christian committed six errors while the Dragons had but one.
Jenna Ridge and Barber had two hits each to lead the offense.  Ragan Liles pitched all seven innings for Marlboro, striking out three.
Marlboro is now 20-1 for the season, including victories in tournament play.  They will face Pee Dee Academy in a rematch next Friday.
