Charges dropped in Lowery murder case

Sheriff Charles Lemon announced Friday morning that the charges against Dwayne Jermaine Bright have been dropped.
Bright, 36, was arrested May 7 and charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime, in connection with the May 5 stabbing death of Ella Shantrice Lowery on Craig Circle.

All charges were dropped Friday morning.

"Information developed in the ongoing investigation led to the decision to release Mr. Bright from custody," Lemon said. He declined to provide more details at this time due to the active and ongoing investigation.
Lowery's eight-year-old daughter, Iyana, has been missing since May 5. Multiple law enforcement agencies are continuing to search for her and investigate the death of her mother.

Anyone with information about Iyana should call 843-479-5605 or 1-888-CRIME-SC.
