FUMC basketball

The First United Methodist Church basketball league is celebrating its 25th year of providing healthy and wholesome winter activity for young people.  Over 150 kids ages 6 to 14 from Bennettsville and surrounding communities are involved in the league.  Games are on weeknights at the church’s family center.  Admission is free and the public is invited to come cheer on the young players.

Bulldogs shock highly rated Falcons, 40-38

After thrashing Marlboro County by twenty points in their December 5 meeting, the Falcons had to figure Tuesday night's trip to the Dawg House would be a similar cake walk.
They were in for a rude awakening as the Bulldogs continued to build on their Christmas tournament success for a 40-38 win over the top-ten ranked Falcons.

Bulldogs heat up, win Comporium Christmas Classic

It took awhile to get all the pieces pulling in the same direction, but the Marlboro County High basketball team seems to have it going in the right direction.  At least the Bulldogs have gotten in the win column, after having several frustratingly close losses.
The Bulldogs put together back-to-back wins in the  Comporium 2017 Christmas Classic at Andrew Jackson High School, winning the two-day tournament.

Despite a rough start, Marlboro County High boys' basketball coach LaTroy Brace isn't discouraged.
"This is a learning process.  We have to learn how to win and what it takes to be successful," said Brace after Monday's eight point defeat to Central of Pageland.

Dragons claim soccer title with 2-1 victory over Conway Christian
Marlboro Academy claimed the South Carolina Independent Schools Association fall soccer championship last week with a 2-1 victory over Conway Christian.  The game was played at Francis Marion University’s soccer stadium.
