Bulldogs still fund-raising for proposed batting cage
Wednesday morning, with a look outside and a quick glance at the weather forecast, Marlboro County High baseball coach Phillip Blue knew that afternoon practice was in jeopardy.  
“We ended up getting some work done in the gym, but the most important aspect from an offensive standpoint is batting practice, which we couldn't do.  Because of the weather, we are a day behind,” said Blue.
He has hopes, that in the future, a little rain won’t set his team back in preparation for the season.

Last season, the Marlboro County High boys' basketball team came just two points shy of playing for a state championship, falling 49-47 to Midland Valley in the Lower State Championship.  
However, with a roster that featured 11 seniors, that didn't leave much experience for veteran coach James Pate to build upon for this season.

Marlboro County High School honored its football coach on Wednesday by celebrating “Dean Boyd Day.”  Students, faculty, family members and friends gathered in the school gym for a program that featured former players, coaches and community members.

The inability to stop a power-running game haunted the Marlboro County High football team all year.  Friday night, that weakness brought an end to the season.
Orangeburg-Wilkinson pounded the Bulldog defense for seven rushing touchdowns and over 250 yards enroute to a 46-33 win in the first round of the state playoffs.
