Clio, McColl Christmas parades

The town of Clio kicked off the season with a Christmas parade on Saturday, December 3, followed by the lighting of the town Christmas tree.  The town of McColl followed with its annual parade on Wednesday, December 7. The final parade will be the city of Bennettsville’s on December 13.

Marlboro County High School honored its football coach on Wednesday by celebrating “Dean Boyd Day.”  Students, faculty, family members and friends gathered in the school gym for a program that featured former players, coaches and community members.

Just down the road from the grand new Blenheim Elementary/Middle School lies a very special monument to a man remembered by many for his 25 years of dedication to the students and the community. 
From 1953 to 1978, Wade H. “Hamp” Prince brought focus, discipline and compassion in his role as principal of Wright Elementary and High School, Blenheim High School and Blenheim Elementary.

Moore St. home target of multiple drive-by incidents

Police are dealing with a flurry of drive-by shootings at a residence on Moore Street, just steps away from Bennettsville City Hall.
There have been four incidents at 107 Moore Street just this week, including two within a 45-minute period Tuesday night.
“It’s like the Wild West,” said Lt. Larry Turner of the Bennettsville Police Department.
